Dr Cecilia Rademeyer

Clinician

Dr. Cecilia was born in South Africa where she studied Medicine at Stellenbosch University. As a young doctor, she worked in large tertiary hospitals, but also in rural areas where limited resources were common. She has always loved fixing things, up-cycling, re-cycling and getting on with the job, despite limitations.

Cecilia came to New Zealand in 2000 with little more than a backpack and a sense of adventure. Initially planning a 6-month working holiday, New Zealand instantly became home. She completed training in Adult Emergency Medicine in 2010. She has been working in Auckland Emergency Departments for 14 years. She has an interest in systems, pathways and proving the best possible care for everybody.

More recently, she has noticed a steady increase in the numbers of patients ending up in the emergency department out of desperation – unable to find solutions for their complex problems in the mainstream conventional medicine world. Patients feel disempowered because they are unable to function normally, either due to debilitating symptoms of chronic conditions or side-effects due to the medications prescribed to control those symptoms.

She has a particular interest in Parkinson, Alzheimer and other neuro-degenerative diseases. After a long career of working on the sharp end of medicine, she has now shifted focus to incorporate a more holistic approach to prevention of disease, rather than being the ambulance at the bottom of the cliff.

She believes that practices such as CannaPlus+, paired with good healthy lifestyle, regular exercise and supporting our metabolic systems, can help patients to thrive and feel empowered.
