Southern Cross Affiliated Provider

Dr Jo Batty

Clinician

Jo has more than 25 years of experience as a GP in Ōtautahi Christchurch and has witnessed the benefits of medicinal cannabis over the past five years. She trained in Sheffield, graduating in 1995, and was born in Holmfirth, UK – the “Last of the Summer Wine” town known for its characters Compo and Norah Batty. Following the earthquakes, Jo became increasingly aware of the limitations of pharmaceuticals in managing pain and mental health conditions.

She has undertaken extensive training to provide her patients with holistic hauora wellbeing support. Jo is trained to care for the body, mind, wairua, and whānau, and she teaches and embodies mindfulness, meditation, nervous system regulation, and Internal Family Systems approaches. She has a particular passion for supporting women in reclaiming natural menstrual cycle awareness and navigating the transitions of motherhood and menopause.

Outside of work, Jo is a keen tramper, skier, and dancer. She has two adult sons and a cheeky schnauzer–westie cross who often makes his presence known during virtual consultations.
